The representatives speak on behalf of the parents they represent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The functions of the Parents\u2019 Committee are<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To raise awareness of the value of public education among all parents of students attending one of the school service centre\u2019s schools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To propose to the school service centre ways of supporting parents\u2019 involvement in their role with their child in order to foster their child\u2019s success at school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To propose to the school service centre ways of facilitating communication between parents and school staff members;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To promote parents\u2019 participation in the activities of the school and of the school service centre and, to that end, to designate parents to take part in the various committees established by the school service centre;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To inform the school service centre of parents\u2019 needs, especially their training needs, as identified by the school representatives and by the representative of the Advisory Committee on Services for Handicapped Students and Students with Social Maladjustments or Learning Disabilities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To develop, with the school service centre\u2019s support, a policy on financial contributions and to propose the policy to the school service centre for adoption;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To advise the school service centre on the special school projects offered or considered in its schools, on any matter likely to ensure the best possible operation of the school service centre and on any matter on which it must be consulted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Parents\u2019 Committee shall be consulted on the following matters<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The division, annexation or amalgamation of the territory of the school service centre;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The school service centre\u2019s commitment-to-success plan;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The three-year plan of allocation and destination of immovables of the school service centre, the list of schools and the deeds of establishment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The policy on the continued operation or closure of schools and on other changes made to the educational services provided in a school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The distribution of educational services among the schools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The school service centre\u2019s by-law on the complaint examination procedure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The criteria for the enrollment of students in schools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The dedication of a school to a special project and the criteria for the enrollment of students in that school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The school calendar;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The childcare provided at school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><small>Reference:&nbsp;<a
